More than words

This is an interesting shoot that came to me. I was booked for Novembr 29 -- not the date, but the place, which was exciting. Close to home, Runu and Biju were getting married in Guwahati -- place closest to my heart than any other. I was excited. Met Runu a couple of times and got to know their story.

We spoke in leisure over a cup of coffee. She was excited. Quite naturally. She was happy that I was shooting their wedding. Well, this is always a great feeling when somebody makes you feel so invited.

The whole of Novembver was packed. Back-to-back shoot. I was living my life mostly out of a suitcase. I was booked for a Darjeeling shoot just prior to Runu's wedding, which is why I think I took this one. For I knew it's just an overnight journey travelling from Darjeeling to Guwahati. And the good think was, I share a lot of proximity to both the places. So, this trip would also make me meet a lot of people, including my Dad who now lives in Siliguri.

Guwahati wasn't very cold I think, or maybe I didn't feel that way for I had just come from Darjeeling. If I remember correctly it was around 5 degree Celsius out there in the hills. Guwahati was much warmer that way.

Just like a Princess.

Got to shoot a Nikaah recently. And how truly I enjoyed it. Yes, for sure, the rituals and tradition were quite different, but it's wedding at the end of the day. Beautiful as always. All I had to do, was wait for the right moment to capture as events unfolded one after another.

The Princely Affair!

Finally, I am able to write this. Wow! Feels great. I am very expressive, and I like things to be that way -- for some reason unknown to me. So, ever since I returned after shooting this wedding -- with memories of the good times -- I have been wanting to write this post and share some photographs here. So, here you go!

I would like to name this album the Princely Affair. It indeed was.

Ever since I got to shoot this wedding, I have been longing to write this. It was such an enriching experience, that I really had to share with you all. At least the photographs, you know.

I was flooded with assignments in the month of May. Got to meet some lovely couple's, attend their wedding and shoot photographs. One such couple is Greeshma and Murli. Ah! What happiness to see them together. Even more, when I got the opportunity to do a pre-wedding shoot (it was post-wedding for them :)) in Coorg. I love the place, people... and food. So, I was greeted one more time with same love and affection just like the last time when I had been there a year ago.

This time I got to meet the bride's mother, father and son. Lived with them in their house. Had great food. The fish, particularly. As a token of love, I was even a bag-full of oranges and filter coffee from their own estate. Was reluctant initially but couldn't say 'no' either. While I am brewing the coffee in the kitchen, I thought it's time that I post some photographs from the collection.

Celebrate Love. Nothing more.

Meet Leslie and Jean. There is nothing fancy or artsy fartsy about these images, but what I adore seeing is just Leslie and Jean being together, beautiful and so complete. Thank you for inviting me and letting me be a part of such a wonderful day. Every moment was so special.

One Sunny Day.

A bright sunny day at Tamarind Tree. An outdoor shoot which I was looking forward to for a long time. Thanks to Dileep and Nirman to have given me this lovely opportunity to shoot their sister's wedding. Special thanks to my team -- Bakhtar and Kishan -- to have assisted me in this project. Had a great time shooting Prithvi and Avinash.
